PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION

Your information.
Handled for the job.

This notice explains what OXIDE Surface Preparation collects through the website, why we use it, who may receive it and the choices available to you.

AT A GLANCE

Only the information we need to assess and deliver work.

OXIDE Surface Preparation currently operates as a sole-trader business and is the controller of personal information collected through this website for its own business purposes. Our trading address is 1 Edington Station Yard, Edington, BA13 4NT. You can contact us at oxideblasting@gmail.com or 07400 853522.

Last updated: 4 October 2026.

No marketing database is created from the quote form.
We currently use enquiry details to assess projects, respond to customers, arrange work and keep appropriate business records. We do not use quote-form information for unrelated marketing. Optional website analytics is controlled separately through the cookie settings and is not loaded unless you allow it.
WHAT WE COLLECT

Information you choose to send us.

The quote form is deliberately focused on information needed to assess a surface-preparation project.

Contact details

Name, email address, telephone number and postcode or project location.

Project details

The service requested, approximate dimensions, timescale, description of the work and information you include in messages.

Photographs

Images you upload to help us assess the workpiece, coating, corrosion, access or surrounding area. Photographs can sometimes contain number plates, people, property details or other personal information.

Technical information

Normal web-server records may include an IP address, browser/device details, request times and security logs. The website is hosted by IONOS, which may process and retain normal hosting and security records as part of providing the service.

WHY WE USE IT

Purpose and lawful basis.

Quotes, enquiries and arranging work

We use information you submit to understand your project, respond to questions, prepare or discuss a quotation and take steps you request before a contract is entered into. Where the enquiry is not yet at a contractual stage, we may also rely on our legitimate interests in responding to genuine business enquiries and operating the service.

Delivering agreed work

If you become a customer, we use relevant information to arrange and provide the service, communicate about the job and manage the customer relationship. This is generally necessary for performance of the contract.

Business, legal and security records

We may keep records where necessary for invoicing, accounting, tax, insurance, dispute handling, fraud prevention, website security or other legal obligations. Depending on the purpose, the lawful basis may be legal obligation or our legitimate interests in running and protecting the business.

What we do not currently do

We do not currently use quote-form information for unrelated advertising, sell customer information, or use automated decision-making to decide whether to accept a project.

PHOTOS & EMAIL

How quote submissions are handled.

The current website form sends enquiry details and uploaded photographs to oxideblasting@gmail.com. The website is not designed to create a separate customer database from form submissions, although normal temporary server processing, logs and backups may exist at hosting level.

Email is currently provided through Google/Gmail. Google may process information in more than one country under its own privacy and transfer arrangements. You can read Google's Privacy Policy ↗.

Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive personal information in job descriptions or photographs. If an image includes a person, number plate or neighbouring property, only send what is reasonably needed for the project assessment.

WHO MAY RECEIVE INFORMATION

Limited sharing for legitimate business needs.

Information may be handled by service providers that support the website and business, such as the website hosting provider, email provider, IT/security providers and professional advisers. Information may also be disclosed to insurers, accountants, legal advisers, regulators or public authorities where this is reasonably necessary or legally required.

We do not sell your personal information.

Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where applicable, those providers are expected to use recognised legal safeguards for international transfers.

RETENTION

We do not intend to keep enquiry data indefinitely.

Enquiries that do not become jobs

Our working retention period is normally up to 12 months from the last meaningful contact, unless there is a good reason to retain the record for longer.

Customer and project records

Records connected with completed or ongoing work may be kept for as long as necessary for the service, warranty or dispute handling and for applicable accounting, tax, insurance and legal record-keeping requirements.

Uploaded photographs

Photographs generally follow the retention period of the enquiry or project they relate to. They may be deleted earlier where they are no longer needed and there is no legal reason to retain them.

Server logs

Technical logs and backups are retained according to security needs and the hosting arrangements with IONOS. OXIDE will review these arrangements if the hosting service changes.

YOUR RIGHTS

Access, correction and other data-protection rights.

Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, erasure, restriction, data portability or to object to certain processing. Not every right applies in every situation.

To make a privacy request or data-protection complaint to OXIDE, email oxideblasting@gmail.com or call 07400 853522. Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant enquiry or project.

Your right to object:
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to that processing. We will consider the circumstances and whether there are compelling legitimate grounds to continue.

If you remain unhappy about how your personal information has been handled, you can raise the matter with the Information Commissioner's Office. See the ICO's data-protection complaint guidance ↗.

COOKIES & WEBSITE STORAGE

Essential storage by default. Analytics only with permission.

The site uses a small first-party preference record to remember whether you selected optional analytics or essential-only use. This preference may be stored as a cookie and, where needed for browser/local-preview compatibility, equivalent local browser storage.

The website is prepared for Google Analytics 4. Analytics is not loaded until you choose to allow it, and no Google Analytics data is sent until a live measurement ID is configured. We do not currently enable advertising or remarketing cookies.

The site may still generate standard hosting/security logs when pages are requested. The training section also links to HSQE and may load course-assurance logo images from HSQE's website; those requests can disclose normal technical information such as an IP address and browser request data to that third party.

Read the separate Cookies & Analytics notice or use the control to change your choice.

CHANGES

Keeping this notice current.

This notice should be reviewed if the hosting provider changes, if the business structure or contact address changes, or if new systems such as analytics, a CRM, online payments or email marketing are introduced.

Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
