HGV, Trailer & Plant Blasting

Mobile abrasive surface preparation for robust commercial-vehicle chassis, trailers, machinery and plant where corrosion, paint and heavy coatings need removing before inspection, maintenance or recoating.

Applications

Where this service fits.

“Sandblasting” is the familiar search term, but modern surface preparation is broader than one abrasive or one pressure setting. The method should be selected around the material, coating, access and finish required.

01 · HGV

Lorry chassis

Prepare suitable chassis rails, crossmembers and steel structures where corrosion and coating build-up need removing.

02 · Trailers

Frames & bodies

Surface preparation for trailer frames, drawbars, steel decks and robust fabricated sections.

03 · Plant

Construction machinery

Selected frames, buckets, booms and heavy components can be assessed for blasting as part of refurbishment or maintenance.

04 · Agricultural

Farm machinery

Corroded steel frames, implements and attachments where paint removal or coating preparation is required.

05 · Attachments

Buckets & implements

Heavy wear components and fabricated attachments can be cleaned for inspection, welding or refinishing.

06 · Fleet maintenance

Planned preparation

Commercial work can be scoped around access, downtime, coating requirements and the practicalities of working on an operational site.

Bigger equipment, bigger planning

Access and protection matter.

Commercial vehicles and plant combine large steel areas with hydraulics, bearings, hoses, electrics and greased components that should not be treated like bare structural steel.

The work area also matters. Mobile blasting on a yard or depot needs enough space for safe exclusion, containment and cleanup without disrupting neighbouring vehicles or operations.

Degreasing & sensitive components
Oil, grease and heavy contamination should be dealt with before abrasive preparation. Hydraulic rams, seals, bearings, hoses, electrics, brakes and identification plates may need removal or protection.
What we assess

Plan the preparation around the end result.

Good surface preparation starts by understanding what the surface is, what needs removing and what has to happen afterwards.

  • Vehicle or machine size and access
  • Oil, grease and existing contamination
  • Hydraulics, bearings, wiring and glass
  • Required downtime and work sequencing
  • Coating or paint specification after preparation
Quote information

Photos first

For the fastest initial assessment, send the postcode, approximate dimensions, overall photographs and close-ups of the coating or surface condition. Include the finish you want afterwards if you know it.

How it works

From enquiry to prepared surface.

The quote process is designed to qualify the job early, reduce unnecessary site visits and identify any risks or limitations before work is booked.

Send photos

Include full-side views, chassis or component details, corrosion close-ups and photos of the proposed work area.

Scope access

We consider machine size, mobility, protection requirements, containment and whether work can happen safely on site.

Coordinate downtime

The preparation stage is planned around strip-down, repairs, coating and the time the vehicle or machine can be unavailable.

Prepare surface

Suitable steelwork is blasted to the agreed outcome before inspection, repair or coating.

Operating area

Southern England
& South Wales

HGV, trailer and plant projects are particularly suited to a wider mobile operating area because moving large equipment can be costly. OXIDE targets Southern England and South Wales, with larger commercial projects considered beyond those regions.

Common questions

HGV, Trailer & Plant Abrasive Blasting FAQs.

Can you blast a lorry chassis on site?

Potentially, where the site offers suitable access, space, permission, containment and separation from other vehicles or people. The exact setup needs assessing from photos or a site visit.

Can you blast trailers?

Many steel trailer frames, drawbars and fabricated parts are strong candidates for abrasive preparation, subject to condition and protection of mechanical components.

Can excavator buckets and attachments be blasted?

Heavy steel attachments are often suitable for coating removal and surface preparation. Grease, hardened material and wear surfaces may need additional cleaning or specific treatment.

Do you blast around hydraulic hoses and rams?

Sensitive components should generally be removed or protected. Abrasive should not be allowed into seals, bearings, hydraulic systems or electrical components.

Can blasting prepare plant for repainting?

It can form part of a repainting process by removing rust and coatings and providing a suitable keyed surface. The required profile should match the chosen coating system.

What information is useful for a commercial quote?

Send dimensions, equipment type, postcode, access photos, coating condition, desired finish and any shutdown or deadline constraints.

HGV, trailer or plant to prepare?

Send the postcode, equipment type, overall dimensions and clear photos of the coating, corrosion and proposed work area. We can use that to scope access and suitability.
